Logical Fallacies

http://truth4seekers.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/fail-owned-logical-fail.jpg
There are man fallacies given in this image, most plainly to me, Appeal to fear, Appeal to Belief, and Currcumstantial Ad Hominem (against a persons choices, in this case religion or lack there of). It Appeals to Fear by saying all athiests arent believed in by god and by not being believed in by god, you don't exist, or more accuratly you are nothing. The second Appeal to belief makes this more targeted at Christians than athiests making a funny turn saying that if you dont beleieve in god your not believed in by him, which is basically saying that you are just an athiest, which is the point of being and athiest. And then the last one Currcumstantial Ad hominem, the priest who said this is attacking Atheism which is foolish, because they dont believe in what you do so, they dont care if the god they think exists doesn't believe in them.

In Jon Stewart's skit, he pointed out 2 fallacies that i caught onto, the first of which being, Red Herring, where the Mexicans or what they called "illegal immigrants" were bringing disease back into the country. They blamed 7000 cases on immigrants, which isn't very accurate giving that 60 minutes disputed it. The next fallacy they pick up is comparing the few and labeling the entire race as lepers, which was also disputed to 60 minutes. It is very funny, same thing they did to the Irish and blacks, and anyone else that the United States was concerned with. Its very funny... very sad, and very ignorant.

Letter to The editor Topic: Tea Party

World views of the Tea Party, which is mainly negative. From many of our allies.

More foreign views on the Tea Party, mostly negative again.

This guy needs to never say anything again if he wants to have a chance to be elected.

http://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/index.php/news/content/view/full/96456And, look at that, anti - Muslim jargon, how original.

I chose to write my letter on the tea party, and my views on their "politics, or lack their of. I agree with some of their ideas, such as economy, because i don't believe that socialism works with large area. I think it works from community based ideas, but when you try and introduce it to say a country, it will and has on many accounts fail. But that's not what i will write about, i am here to discuss the tea parties negative media, really the racism that many of their candidates are showing. I've pulled up a few examples of such negative stories. Really what I'm going to be talking about is the Tea Party and how they will bring negative media and relations to the country if we elect any of them because of the choice idiots they seem to cohort with. So, its an anti Tea Party piece... original right?

O'Brien

Tim O'Brien's speech was amazing. He his upon the things that I tried to hit upon during my earlier writings in the class, about truth and how to truthfully tell your version of truth. That whole concept is actually pretty amazing to me. I remember when i first thought about it when i was reading. It was really exposed though after i read The Things They Carried and how it effected his writing. The way he writes using meta-fiction is amazing, it seems true yet it never really happened. O'Brien will always be one of my favorite writers just because of his exploration of truth, which he and i have in common. I believe this will be a trend, for many authors to recount their lives's tragic or mentally harmful experiences.

Persuasive?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/10/19/military-recruiters-told-accept-gay-applicants/
http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/10/19/pentagon.gays.recruiting/index.html?hpt=Sbin

Well, one is from a liberal source  of median and the other is from a republican source, by reading both you get a general idea of whats going on, the Federal court is changing the gay in the military clause. Now other than it being a "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy its open towards gays. The recruiters are only required to tell their "gay" applicants that it may change in the future and that they were not certain that they would be able to stay in active service for long. These and the human element that they both used are about the only similarities. The authors then start showing subtle differences in their writing styles, Fox showed a more republican approach, which was more resistant to the idea than its more liberal counterpart CNN. Fox, was much less professional in thier writing than CNN, and it almost seemed like they were waiting for the Pentagon to change the order back, while CNN seemed to deem the whole thing as a good thing with its more professional and more extensive cover of the story.CNN also showed the people they interviewed in a more positive light, with comments that promoted their chosen branches, while Fox left these things out.

Show don't tell

 Shes the schools best athlete...

My heart raced as I viewed her body effortlessly glide across the surface of the field. Like an Olympic ice-skater she shifted her wait and brought the black and white checkered  ball down to the ground. In the next moment she had left her two defenders in the dust. We all knew that that fabled orb of ebony and ivory was about to cross the line into the back of the net. Head up and a huge smile on her face she reels her foot back knocks the ball dead center, such power. Imitating La Torre De Jalisco up our team goes and the sound of a long held out  "GOAL" rings in the air. Game over, championship won.
